First of all, if you haven’t already, put Dubrovnik, Croatia on your goto list. This UNESCO World Heritage Site (and you know how I feel about those) is a gorgeous, red- tiled roofed town, sitting along the stunning emerald Adriatic Sea, and is a breathtaking charmer. Having a chance to walk on top of the Old Towns’ wall is something spectacular and right out of a fairytale. Do yourself the biggest favor and rent an apartment right in the center of the Old Town. There are a few very luxurious and very expensive hotels these days right outside of the center, but it’s having your own little place that makes it all come together. Dubrovnik is a very BIG destination for cruise ships and wanderers alike, so it is often packed with people. But staying in an apartment, right there, gives you the opportunity to enjoy the quiet moments when they have all left. It’s pretty special. Not to mention how incredibly affordable it is to find a rather large apartment to fit you and your tribe very spaciously. To find a great place visit http://www.vrbo.com/ or http://www.homeaway.com/ and book it there. It’s super easy to navigate and I’ve had great luck with both sites.
